LANDOVER, Md. -- Myron Holland Jr.,
Brandon Baxter, and
Christian Gingrich each won events for the Elizabethtown College men's track & field team on Saturday at the Cardinal Track & Field Classic. Holland reset his own 60-meter record to 6.92 after breaking it in the season-opening meet at F&M. Etown took second out of 10 teams with 119 points.
Holland lowered his time on the day in each of his three 60-meter races. First he ran 7.00 to qualify for the semifinal round, as did
Jalen Belgrave (7.35),
Evan Schwab (7.42), and
Matt Lamb (7.47). In the semis, Holland (6.97) and Schwab (7.33) were able to advance to the final. Holland would win the event at 6.92 to lower his school-record time after breaking it back on Dec. 9 at Franklin & Marshall. Schwab would place seventh at 7.40. Schwab was second in the 200 at 23.18.
Baxter was one of three to place in the 800-meter run, winning the event in 2:01.85.
Andrew Reice was third in 2:04.22 and
Grant Kuhn took sixth in 2:09.69.
Daniel Myers, Baxter, and
Marc Ramson were third, fourth, and tenth, respectively, in the mile.
Gingrich led a quartet of Blue Jays in the 3k. He would win it at 9:01.98. Myers placed fifth,
Matt Fick was sixth, and
Nolan Pettit was seventh.
Four runners also placed in the 5k for Elizabethtown, led by
Chase Wargo in fourth.
Marty Ratchford was fifth,
Connor Lawrence placed sixth, and
Sagar Patel was eighth.
Adam Carmo ran 9.14 in the prelims of the 60-meter hurdles and finished fourth in the final at 9.30.
Aspen Stahl-Emig set new personal bests in the shot put and weight throw and joined the program's Top 10 list in each as well. He was third in the weight throw with a heave of 12.45m, seventh-best in program history. He was sixth in the shot put at 11.82m, now eighth all-time.
Lucas Maggipinto tied for second in the high jump at 1.90m, which tied his personal record. He was also seventh in the long jump at 6.05m.
Ethan Vallone took sixth in the high jump at 1.75m.
Logan Miller was third in the pole vault at 3.95m and
Rodrigo Jimenez vaulted 3.05m to tie for ninth.
The 4x400-meter relays were fourth and ninth.
Elizabethtown will be back in action on Friday, January 27, at the Mid-Dip Invitational hosted by F&M.
