GENEVA, Ohio -- Sophomore
Kelty Oaster was the first athlete for the Elizabethtown College women's track & field team to compete in the 800 meters at the NCAA Outdoor Championships on Friday. Oaster competed in the preliminaries and finished 16th overall.
Oaster had a good idea of the time she would likely need to run in order to advance to Saturday's final as the first two heats turned in sub-2:10 times. The top two from each heat along with the next three fastest moved on to Saturday.
The 2022 AARTFC 800 meter champ saw her section go out hard over the first 200 meters. That carried through over 400 meters as the leaders crossed in about 61 seconds.
Oaster ended up sixth in the section at 2:13.92, which put her 16th overall to conclude an outstanding season for the Gettysburg, Pa. native.
