INDIANAPOLIS -- On Friday, the NCAA released the names of the national qualifiers for the 2022 Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships in Geneva, Ohio. Erin Miller, Kelty Oaster, and Christian Schaaf will represent the Elizabethtown College track & field programs at The SPIRE Institute. The national meet runs Thursday, May 26, through Saturday, May 28.

Miller becomes the fourth different qualifier in the javelin for Elizabethtown and the first since Amanda Porter and Payton Wagmeister competed for the Blue Jays in 2017. Miller's best mark of the season was 42.25m (138'7"), which was 13th best in Division III. Her season, and career, best came at the Blue Jay Tune Up in late April.

Oaster dropped nearly three seconds off her 800 meter time this outdoor season, hitting 2:10.91 on May 16 at the Swarthmore Final Qualifier held at Widener University. The Landmark and AARTFC Outdoor Champion in the 800m is the first-ever to qualify in the event for Etown. Her time was the 11th fastest across Division III this season.

Coincidentally for Schaaf, he is the first 5,000 meter qualifier since Dave Berdan in 2004, whose school record he broke at the Bison Outdoor Classic in mid-April, and then lowered again at the 126th Penn Relays on April 28. Schaaf's 14:14.38 put him 13th on the Division III performance list.

Miller, Oaster, and Schaaf will all make their nationals debut later next week. Miller will be first up in the javelin with the preliminaries and finals on Thursday, May 26, beginning at 3:30 p.m. Oaster's 800 meter prelim is scheduled for Friday at 4 p.m. with the final on Saturday at 1:50 p.m. Schaaf's 5,000 meter final is set for Saturday, May 28, at 3:25 p.m.
