BETHLEHEM, Pa. -- The Elizabethtown College softball team hung tough with Moravian on Saturday at Blue & Grey Field, but the Greyhounds were able to get a pair of close wins to sweep the Blue Jays.
Kristen Aydelotte hit her second home run of the season and had four RBIs to lead Etown.
GAME 1: MORAVIAN 3, ELIZABETHTOWN 2
Elizabethtown (14-24, 1-11 Landmark) trailed 1-0 after the first and 3-0 after the second inning, but were still in the game and even outhit Moravian (26-4, 10-2 Landmark) 9-6 in the game.
Aydelotte made it a one-run game in the fifth after her eighth double of the season scored
Grace Hussey and
Jenna Davis to make it 3-2.
The Greyhounds held off the Jays in the sixth and seventh innings to win game one.
Davis and Hussey each had two hits to lead Etown.
GAME 2: MORAVIAN 5, ELIZABETHTOWN 4 (F/8)
Cierra Kunkle limited Moravian to two runs through seven innings and saw her offense give the team a chance and force extra innings.
Down 2-0 going into the seventh,
Amelia Lark doubled to left to plate two runs for Elizabethtown as
Kadyn Crisswell and
Ashley Mistichelli scored safely to tie the game at 2-2.
Aydelotte smacked her second homer of the season in the top of the eighth that gave Etown a 4-2 lead as
Courtney Fitzsimons was on when the freshman jacked home run no. 2.
The Greyhounds rallied in the eighth with three runs to earn the walkoff win and sweep the Blue Jays.
Aydelotte, Hussey, and
Megan Thomas each had two hits apiece in game two.
