ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. - The Elizabethtown College women's tennis team earned its second Landmark Conference win of the season, topping Susquehanna, 7-2, Saturday afternoon.
With the win, the Blue Jays move to 4-4 on the season and 2-4 in league play, while the River Hawks fall to 6-6 overall and 1-3 in the Landmark.
Etown scored an early 2-1 advantage taking both the #1 and #2 doubles match. Seniors
Kailey Caroland and
Maddy Binder dominated at #1, topping Ashlynn Searer and Julie Bramley, 8-2, while freshman
Gabriella Palladini and sophomore
Olivia Richards earned an 8-5 win at #2 against Grace Tepes and Isabella Scappaticci.
The Blue Jays then left no doubt in the singles portion of the match, winning #1 through #5. Caroland earned her fifth win of the season at #1, taking down Searer, 6-3. 6-1. Palladni then battled back at #2 singles, falling behind 5-7 before taking the final two sets 7-5, 10-7. Richards (6-2, 6-2), Binder, (6-1, 6-2), and sophomore
Kaylee Mustard (6-1, 6-2) wrapped up the scoring for Etown, taking #3, #4, and #5 singles respectively.
Elizabethtown wraps up the 2021-22 season tomorrow, April 24 against Juniata. Opening serve is set for 1 p.m.
