Detky sets two new personal bests for women's track & field at the Armory

NEW YORK CITY -- Sydney Detky turned in two all-time performances for the Elizabethtown College women's track & field team on Friday at the NYC DIII Invitational held at the Armory Track & Field Center. Abigail Buffington, Melissa Patton, and Marissa Lapinsky also had top 10 all-time performances for the Blue Jays at the meet.

Detky, one of three entered in the 60m dash for Etown, lowered her time to 8.40 in the preliminaries, which remains sixth on the all-time list in the event. Buffington ran 8.55 to put her name eighth all-time and Patton's time of 8.64 is now 10th all-time for the Jays. Later in the meet, Detky cleared 1.55m (5'1") in the high jump to take sole possession of seventh place all-time. She took fifth in the high jump.

Lapinsky and Kelty Oaster traded seconds and thirds at the meet. First, Oaster was the runner-up in the mile at 5:15.70 with Lapinsky right behind her at 5:16.13, good for third. Then, in the 800m, Lapinsky took second with the program's eighth-best 800m time of 2:21.83. Oaster placed third in 2:23.11.

Melissa Fitzgibbon ran 10:40.30 in the 3k to take third place. Hallie Weaver was 10th in 11:05.66. Buffington took sixth in the triple jump at 10.00m, Mylea Neidig was eighth in the shot put at 9.52m, and Trinity Soto was 10th in the weight throw at 10.71m. The 4x400m relay was also 10th.
