GALLOWAY, N.J. - The Elizabethtown College men's lacrosse team dropped its first road game of the season, falling to Stockton, 11-9, in non-conference action Saturday afternoon.
With the los, the Blue Jays fall to 1-2 overall, while the Osprey secured their first win of the season to move them to 1-1.
Senior
Nick Cost and junior
Riley Langen finished with a team-high three points, notching three assists and two goals and an assist respectively. Senior
Owen Yake and
Alex Kilgour finished with two goal apiece. Yake is tied for second in the Landmark with eight goals.
Stockton was pace by senior Stanley Kolimago who tallied a game-high four goals.
After two goals late in the first quarter by Stockton, Etown got on the board in the final seconds as Langen found Yake with two seconds remaining to make the score 2-1 after one.
The Blue Jays continued to carry the momentum into the second quarter, scoring the first two goals of the period behind solo efforts from Kilgour and Yake, putting Etown up 3-2 with 13:10 on the clock. The Blue Jays stretched its advantage to 5-3 with under two minutes to play, but the Osprey found two late strikes to even the score at the half.
With two goals apiece scored in the third quarter, the two teams headed to the first quarter tied at seven. Stockton, however, controlled the fourth and final period, pushing its lead to three (11-8) with 3:34 remaining in the game before a late goal by sophomore
Gavin Gismondi made the final score 11-9.
Sophomore
Brayden Franey (1-1) had a career day for the Blue Jays, making a career-high 21 saves on 47 shots faced. His 21 saves ties him for six all-time in single game saves for the program. Junior Eric Lindskog (1-1) made 17 saves on 41 shots in the winning effort.
Senior
Danny Gilbert was 13-23 one face-offs while picking up a team-high six ground balls. Sophomore Stewart finished with two caused turnovers and two ground balls.Â
Elizabethtown remains on the road to take on local rival #8 F&M on Wednesday, March 2. Opening face-off is set for 7 p.m.
