LANCASTER, Pa. -- Kelty Oaster and
Sydney Detky each won events for the Elizabethtown College women's track & field team at Friday's season-opening meet at Franklin & Marshall. Oaster won the 1,000m and Detky won the high jump for the Blue Jays at the Diplomat Open.
Oaster ran Elizabethtown's fifth-fastest 1,000-meter time to win the event in 3:06.29.
Detky, in her final meet for the Blue Jays, won the high jump with a new personal best of 1.60m (5'3") to move from a sixth-place tie to sole possession of third on the all-time list. She was also fifth in the 60m at 8.28.
Jarrett Wagner made the team's indoor top 10 list in the 60m with her 8.45. That ranks her seventh all-time.
Gina Carapellucci took 10th in the 60m hurdles with the program's fourth-fastest hurdle time of 10.33.
Trinity Faupel, in her first collegiate meet alongside Wagner and Carapellucci for Etown, also made the list. Faupel ran 10.39 and is now fifth all-time.
Jocelynn Itterly tied her best mark in the high jump, which helped her place third in the event. Itterly cleared 1.55m (5'1"), which is eighth in school history.
Also improving her mark was
Trinity Soto in the weight throw. The senior finished seventh at 11.32m (37'1"), which improves her tenth-place standing in program history.
Madison Webber finished fifth in the 5,000-meter run to begin the meet.
Amanda Kauffman took 10th.
Lucy Stern placed in both horizontal jumps for Elizabethtown. She was sixth in the triple jump and eighth in the long jump.
Melissa Patton grabbed eighth in the 400m and the 4x400m relay was the runner-up to close out the meet.
The meet was the only one for the Blue Jays in 2022. They will be back in action on January 21 at the Cardinal Classic.
