Hoffman Re-Breaks 1000 Free Record, Blue Jays Defeat Cabrini

BRYN MAWR, Pa.-- Freshman Leif Hoffman re-broke the Elizabethtown 1000 freestyle record as the Blue Jays defeated Cabrini, 157-92 at Bryn Mawr on Saturday, 

Hoffman shaved 2.888 seconds of his record breaking time from last week in the 1000 free as he touched the wall at 10:16.99. In the same event, Joshua McQueen finished third with a time of 11:07.26. In the 200 free, Dylan Fitzgerald (1:56.67) took third while Zain Wegman (1:59.51) claimed the third spot. The Blue Jays again went second and third in an event as Nicholas Carter and Yusuf Nosaer touched the wall at 1:02.51 and 1:18.52, respectively. 

Wegman picked up the second first place of the day for Etown as he touched the wall at 1:06.10 in the 100 breaststroke with Garren McKenzie trailing not far behind for second place. In the 50 free the Blue Jays took the top three spots with Austin Smith claiming first coming in with a time of 23.04. Smith then finished third in the 100 free clocking in at 52.03. 

Hoffman added another first place on his day as he came in with a time of 2:01.47 in the 200 back. Wegman and Carter went one-two in the 200 breaststroke with times of 2:23.99 and 2:25.78. Hoffman ended his day with his third first place as he came in with a time of 4:58.08 in the 500 free. Robert Midura finished third with a time of 5:18.26. Smith added another first place as he touched the wall at 55.08 in the 100 fly. In the 200 IM, Carter finished first while AJ West finished third with a time of 2:16.37. 

Etown returns home this Friday, November 11th at 6 PM as they host Lebanon Valley.
