SCRANTON,Pa.—The Elizabethtown women's volleyball team fell, 3-0 (25-23, 25-20, 25-19) in the Landmark Conference semifinals, Wednesday inside the John Long Center.
Set one saw Scranton come out strong with a 7-1 lead following an Elizabethtown attack error. The Blue Jays came within six after a kill from
Georgianna Kahley and a Royal attack error. Etown gained some momentum with Scranton leading by four. A kill from
Bryanna Miller and two service aces brought Etown to 15-19. The Royals snuck in a kill before kills from
Courtney Westman and
Gianna Krinock brought left the Jays trailing by two. The teams traded points before Elizabethtown rattled off three more points tying up the set 23-23. Scranton closed the set with the final two kills to win, 25-23.
Elizabethtown came out fighting as they started set two close with a 7-6 lead after four consecutive points. Five kills in a row for Scranton gave the Royals a 15-10 lead. The Blue Jays came within one following an
Emma Bitner service ace. After some back-n-forth, Krinock smacked down two more kills before the Royals were victorious, 25-20 with a kill.
Set three started off with the Royals and Blue Jays trading points as Elizabethtown led, 6-3. Scranton took over the lead after going on a 6-0 run. Two Royal attack errors then brought Etown back within one at 9-8. Elizabethtown gained momentum taking a one-point lead after a Miller ace and kill. Scranton then took the final seven points to win, 25-19 and move on to the Landmark Conference Championship.
Miller led the team with 10 kills as she closes out her career with 1019 kills. Krinock led the team in digs with 15 while
Kambrie Hepler added 13. Bitner recorded 15 assists and Krinock also totaled seven kills.The Blue Jays end their season in their third Landmark Conference Tournament with a 23-7 record overall.
