Men's Swimming Dominates Goucher, Immaculata

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa.-- The Elizabethtown men's swim team picked up two victories against Goucher and Immaculata as they opened the 2022-23 season. The Blue Jays won, 203-35 against Immaculata and 209-27 against Goucher. 

The Blue Jays opened up the meet taking first and second in the 200 medley relay. Robert Midura won the 1000 freestyle with a time of 11:27.33. In the 200 freestyle, Etown finished second though fifth with Andrew Hoch (1:58.45), Joshua McQueen (1:58.46), Zain Wegman (1:58.73) and Nicholas Carter (2:01.09). Franky Swain and Liam Quick took the top two spots in the 50 backstroke. Elizabethtown then dominated in the 50 breaststroke taking the top four spots. 

In the 100 butterfly, Austin Smith claimed first clocking in at 54.53 while AJ West finished second with a time of 55.57. Connor Oswald, Hoch, Garren McKenzie, and Nicholas Iraca finished first through fourth in the 50 freestyle. In the 100 freestyle, West took the top spot with a time of 51.26 while Jack Venza (57.08) and McKenzie (58.51) placed second and third. Swain added another first place on his day with a time of 59.84 in the 100 backstroke. Etown again claimed the top four spots as Alex Waskiewicz led in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:04.82. In the 500 free, Midura finished first with a time of 5:25.34 and McQueen finished second with a time of 5:26.88. 

In the 50 butterfly, Smith and Quick claimed the top two spots with Smith touching two seconds before Quick. Waskiewicz added another first place on his day as he won the 200 IM touching the wall at 2:12.25. The Blue Jays ended the day with a first and second place in the 200 freestyle relay. 

The Blue Jays return to the pool, October 28th to compete in the Schweikert Relays starting at 5 PM.
