Men's swimming dominates the pool in win at McDaniel

WESTMINSTER, Md. -- The Elizabethtown College men's swimming team dominated the pool on Saturday at McDaniel. The Blue Jays won 10 of 11 events to coast to an easy win over the Green Terror, 66-21.

Elizabethtown, who moved to 5-5 on the season, wasted no time getting things going in the right direction. Franky Swain, Connor Oswald, AJ West, and Alex Waskiewicz swam 1:42.44 in the 200 medley relay to begin the meet, winning by four seconds over McDaniel.

Robert Midura (1000 free), Sam Lopez (200 free), Dylan Strella (50 free), Waskiewicz (200 IM), West (100 fly), and Andy Hoch (100 free) helped the Blue Jays to seven straight event wins, including the opening 200 medley relay before the Green Terror were able to win the 100 backstroke.

Midura won his second individual event of the meet later in the 500 free. His winning time was 5:12.44, nearly six seconds better than second place. Zain Wegman won the 100 breast in 1:06.27.

The combination of Waskiewicz, Lopez, Hoch, and West swan 1:36.20 in the 200 free relay to close the meet (swam as exhibition).

The men's swimming team will host its Senior Day on Saturday, January 29, at 1 p.m. at the Alumni Pool.
