Roderick Secures 550th Career Victory in Win over Bridgewater

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. – Elizabethtown College men's soccer improved to 2-0 on the season with a 1-0 win over Bridgewater, securing head coach Skip Roderick his 550th career win, Sunday afternoon on the final day of the Brothers Pizza Soccer Classic Tournament.

With the two wins on the weekend, Roderick now has a 550-161-68 career coaching record, all with the Blue Jays. He has the second most wins at the Division III level, trailing only Jay Martin of Ohio Wesleyan, and is eighth across all divisions.

Junior Ryan Hepler scored the lone goal for Etown his first of the season while senior Garrett Winchilla tallied his second assist of the year.

The Blue Jays found the lone goal in the first half as Winchilla settled a bouncing ball and dribbled along the end line the senior fired a cross to the penalty spout where Hepler one-timed the service into the roof of the net for the one goal advantage in the 32nd minute.

The Etown defense held strong the rest of the way, holding the Eagles to just two total shots, preserving the Blue Jays first shutout of the season, 1-0.

Sophomore Kelvin Delcid (2-0) earned his seventh clean sheet of his career, making one save. Freshman Charles Schweinefuss (0-2) made one save in the lost.

Etown hits the road for the first time this season on Wednesday, September 8 to take on Kings. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
