LANCASTER, Pa. -- Nick Garrett was the top performer not just for the Elizabethtown College men's cross country team, but overall as he won the F&M Season Opener for the Blue Jays.
Christian Schaaf followed as the runner-up, but the Diplomats slipped past the Jays by a point, 27-28.
Running on the Baker Campus course, Garrett averaged a 5:01.4 mile pace for the 5k race and finished in 15:37.4. Schaaf was not far off his pace, ending up at 15:48.1.
Franklin & Marshall took the next four places before
Daniel Myers came in seventh.
Adam Wolfe was ninth as Etown had four in the top 10.
Brandon Baxter placed 11th to round out the scoring for Elizabethtown.
Etown will host the Blue Jay Alumni Challenge on Saturday, September 11, at 11 a.m. on the program's Solar Array Course.
