TOWSON, Md. -- The Elizabethtown College men's soccer team is in a good position with goalkeeper depth. For the second straight week, the Blue Jays had a goalie selected for the Landmark Conference Men's Soccer Defensive Athlete of the Week. Last week it was
Ethan Higgins and this week it was
Kelvin Del Cid.
Del Cid continued his strong start to 2021 after helping Elizabethtown extend its unbeaten streak to four games and win its first Landmark Conference contest of the season on Saturday.
Last Wednesday, Del Cid held nationally-ranked No. 4 Messiah scoreless, the first time the Falcons have gone goalless since September 2019. He made three saves in the tie for Etown.
On Saturday, the junior made five saves at Goucher in the Blue Jays' 4-2 win to open league play. Del Cid ranks third in the conference in save percentage and goals against average.
