NEWVILLE, Pa. -- Nick Garrett was the Elizabethtown College men's cross country team's top performer on Saturday at the Dickinson Long-Short Course Invitational. Garrett was third overall for the Blue Jays, who took third in the long course results.
Brandon Baxter was the team's top finisher in the short course race, where Etown took seventh in the team results.

Elizabethtown was one of four school with a pair of runners inside the top 10 of the long course race. Garrett cruised to third overall behind Dickinson's Christopher and Charles Scharf, who went 1-2 for the Red Devils. Garrett finished third in 26:28.62.
Christian Schaaf was also in the top 10 for the Blue Jays. The senior was eighth in 27:22.25.
Matt Fick was the third Etown runner to cross the finish line. He came in at 28:36.27,
Marc Ramson followed him in 28:58.58, and
Daniel Myers capped the top five runners for Elizabethtown at 29:08.91. All five runners finished among the top quarter of competitors in the field. Their team score of 33 was good for third overall behind Hagerstown Community College and Messiah.
Short Course Individual & Team Results
In the short course race, Baxter and
Colm Smith each finished their races in under 14:00. Baxter was 21st in 13:28.35 and Smith was 27th in 13:38.36.
Zachary Kardos ran 14:34.82, Nick Falson ran 14:38.78, and
Carson Wiley finished in 15:05.97. The Blue Jays took seventh with 84 points in the short course team standings.
The men's cross country team will have two weekends off before their final regular season meet at Gettysburg on Saturday, October 16.
