TOWSON, Md. -- Three of the four available Athlete of the Week honors between men's and women's soccer went to Elizabethtown College.
Ryan Hepler and
Ethan Higgins swept the men's side while
Trinity Soto earned the distinction for the women. The men's and women's soccer teams combined to go 4-0 this past week, each with a pair of wins in non-conference play.
Hepler was named the Landmark Men's Soccer Offensive Athlete of the Week after tallying in both Blue Jays' wins this past week. A junior, Hepler leads Etown with three goals on the season. He produced the game's only goal last Wednesday as the Jays beat Alvernia, 1-0, in the Kicks for Cancer makeup from the night prior. His late goal on Saturday helped cement a 2-0 win at Arcadia.
On the back end, Higgins made the most of his first two career starts for Elizabethtown. He stopped seven shots at Alvernia and added another four on Saturday against the Knights, both clean sheets for the junior goalie. In his 180 minutes of action, he did not allow a goal as the Jays moved to 4-1 overall.
For the women, Soto was just as much as brick wall as her male counterpart. The junior made three saves in an overtime win at Muhlenberg last Wednesday before making five in a combined 3-0 shutout victory over Penn State Berks on Saturday. The Blue Jays won their first two games of the season this past week.
