ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. -- After a top-three performance last weekend,
Kelty Oaster moved up a few spots to win her first career cross country meet for the Elizabethtown College women's cross country team. The Blue Jays beat their alumni team, 19-41, Saturday at the Solar Array Course.
Oaster and
Hallie Weaver paced the pack throughout the race, and it was Oaster that pulled away in the end and wound up as the only finisher to slide in under 18 minutes for the 4.5k course. Oaster's winning time was 17:55.
Weaver was the runner-up in 18:02. Colleen Kernan was the first alumni runner to finish, taking third in 18:24.
Brooklyne Wiley and
Madison Webber were fourth and fifth, respectively.
Courtney Gelb took sixth for the alums and Emily Nelson was ninth, but in between them was
Bridget Kennedy and
Megan Lysek-Hagy. Kathryn Howser and Brianna Earnshaw were the number four and five scorers for the alumni team. They were 15th and 16th overall.
The women's cross country team will take part in Haverford's Main Line Invitational on Friday, September 17, at 5 p.m.
