SCRANTON, Pa. -- The Elizabethtown College women's soccer team was in its first conference championship game since 2008 on Saturday at #18 Scranton. The Blue Jays finished as the runner-up in a 2-0 defeat against the Royals at Weiss Field.
Elizabethtown (7-7-4) showed its mettle a week ago when they faced then 17th-ranked Scranton at Ira R. Herr Field. The Jays stood tall in a 2-2 double overtime draw, but Saturday's championship was an impressive performance from the hosts as they limited Etown to just three shots in the game.
Scranton (16-0-1) scored once in each half, first from Emily Tantala in the 25th minute. The Royals led 1-0 at halftime.
Callie Deola recorded an insurance goal in the 58th minute that made it 2-0.
Trinity Soto made eight saves for Elizabethtown while Amanda Steinberg stopped two shots.
