MADISON, N.J. - The Elizabethtown College men's soccer team fell to Drew, 2-1, in double overtime Wednesday night in the Landmark Conference semifinals.
The Blue Jays finish the season 9-6-2 while the Rangers move to 9-7-1 overall.
Freshman
Pedro Guizardi scored his third goal of the season and junior
Jeffery Bennett tallied his first assist of the year.
Sophomore Matthew Agudelo scored both goals for Drew, his first of the season. Junior Patrick Catillo assisted the game-winner for the Rangers.
After a scoreless first half, Drew struck first. Earning a corner kick on the right side in the 68th minute, Agudelo stepped up and whipped a service to the back post, sneaking it inside the far post and giving the Rangers the 1-0 advantage.
Elizabethtown continued to push for the tying goal and found it in the 84th minute. After earning a corner kick on the right side, Bennett drove a cross to the center of the box. Guizardi rose up and headed it towards goal, beating senior goalkeeper Callum Erlenborn and tying the score at one.
The game remained tied all the way to the second overtime when Drew dumped a throw in to the Blue Jays' penalty box. The ball bounced around and came to the feet of Catillo who attempted a shot but was blocked. Agudelo, however, collected the rebound and one-timed into the back of the net for the game winner.Â
Junior Kelvin Del CId (6-5-2) made six saves on 10 shots. Erlenborn (6-4-0) made six saves on 15 shots face in the win.
