NEWVILLE, Pa. -- For the fourth straight regional meet, the Elizabethtown College men's cross country team had at least two runners finish with all-region honors.
Nick Garrett and
Christian Schaaf were those two performers for the Blue Jays on Saturday at the NCAA Division III Mid-Atlantic Regional meet held at Big Spring High School. Etown finished fifth out of 31 teams with 159 points.
Garrett's strong 2021 season continued on Saturday as the Landmark's individual champion ran to eighth place in 26:43.5. Schaaf, another consistent contributor to the Jays' season wasn't far behind. The senior was 13th in 27:01.3. For their placement in the top 35, Garrett and Schaaf earned All-Mid-Atlantic Region honors.
Elizabethtown's final three runners all finished within seven spots of one another.
Colm Smith was 42nd in 28:10.7,
Adam Wolfe placed 47th in 28:26.8, and
Matt Fick joined the scoring crew in 49th at 28:30.2.
Carnegie Mellon are the 2021 Mid-Atlantic Region team champions with a meet-low 30 points. Christopher Scharf of host Dickinson won the meet.
