STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. -- A trio of seniors competed for the Elizabethtown College men's track and field team at the Fastrack National Invite on Friday at the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex. Samuel Gerstenbacher broke his own 3,000m school record while Christopher Myers ran a new indoor 5k PR for the Blue Jays.

Myers and fellow senior Liam Coverdale competed for E-town in the 5,000m. Both runners finished in the top 10, with Myers taking fifth overall in 15:05.70, the seventh-fastest time in program history. Coverdale was ninth in 15:24.60.

Gerstenbacher, who ran 8:31.58 on March 2, 2019 at the Tufts National Qualifying Meet, dropped his time below 8:30 Friday night. Gerstenbacher ran 8:29.21 and was the top Division III finisher in the race and took second overall.
