LEBANON, Pa. -- Samuel Gerstenbacher was the leader again for the Elizabethtown College men's cross country team, who hosted the Short Course Invitational at Union Canal Tunnel Park. The Blue Jays were third out of nine teams at the meet with 72 points. Gerstenbacher was the runner-up in the men's 6k race.
Gerstenbacher dueled with other top runners from the mideast region, who he'll be competing against at the Division III Mideast Regional later in the season. The senior stood out yet again amongst his racing peers, taking second overall behind Stevenson's Patrick Watson. Gerstenbacher finished in 18:35.41, his third top two finish of the 2019 cross country season.
Christopher Myers was sixth to put two Elizabethtown runners in the top ten. Dickinson and Moravian were also able to do the same. The Red Devils had four athletes in the top ten.
Liam Coverdale was 15th for the Jays, with
Will Schoener and
Colm Smith rounding out the scoring for EC. Schoener was 25th overall and Smith finished a spot behind in 26th as they were only separated by less than two seconds.
Dickinson won the men's race with a meet-low 35 points. Moravian edged E-town for second, 66 to 72.
