CARLISLE, Pa. -- It was a strong showing for the Elizabethtown College men's cross country team last night at Dickinson's Light Up The Night Invite. All five scoring members were inside the top 14, including three in the top 10 as the Blue Jays won the meet with 40 points.
Samuel Gerstenbacher was the runner-up in the 5k race.
A talented group of seniors led the way for Elizabethtown in the first meet of the 2019 season. Gerstenbacher, the two-time reigning Landmark individual champion, ran 15:52.2 on Friday to take second overall behind race-winner Bryce Descavish of Dickinson.
Christopher Myers placed fifth in the field of 89 competitors with a time of 16:15.6. Right there with him was
Liam Coverdale, who was sixth, in 16:15.8.
Sophomore
Adam Wolfe came in under 17 minutes and finished 13th overall in 16:51.1. Junior
Will Schoener did the same, just off Wolfe's pace, in 14th. Schoener crossed in 16:53.0.
E-town placed all seven runners in the top 21 at the meet and ended with a meet-low 40 points and bested second-place Dickinson by three points (43).
The men's cross country team will host the Blue Jay Alumni Challenge next Saturday, September 7.
