HARRISBURG, Pa. -- The Elizabethtown College men's golf team was one of five to shoot better as a team in Saturday's second and final round of the Landmark Conference Men's Golf Championship at Dauphin Highlands Golf Course. The Blue Jays were 19 strokes better Saturday than Friday and finished seventh of the eight-team field.
Evan Kreiser was the top place finisher for E-town in a tie for 15th.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Kreiser was one of four players with Elizabethtown with a birdie penciled in on his scorecard. Two-over through six holes on the front nine, Kreiser drained a birdie putt on the par five 7th to get a shot back. The freshman played six of his final nine holes to par and came in a shot better than his first round with a 79 on Saturday. Kreiser finished at +15 and tied for 15th overall.
-
Caleb Clements was in the zone for the Blue Jays, recording a team-best three birdies on the round. He dropped in back-to-back birdies on the par three 4th and par five 5th holes, which brought him to -1 for the round through the first five holes. Clements began the back nine with a birdie on the par four 10th hole and ended with a 78 (+6), which was the team's best round of the day.
- After a +7 on the first nine holes,
Garrett Leib played his game on the back nine hitting par on eight of nine holes and came in at a +1 on the final nine to shoot +8 for the round. He ended in a tie for 26th at +19.
-
Brady McLamb, who shot a personal best round yesterday, made it consecutive days of personal bests. McLamb shot four on the par five 5th hole for the second straight round of play. He closed out the front nine with a birdie on the 9th hole, a 428-yard par four to head into the back nine at +2 for the day. McLamb came into the clubhouse with an 84, three strokes better than Friday's first round 87.
-
Michael Zabrecky, like Clements, was able to birdie the 10th hole to get a shot back to start off the back nine. Zabrecky sank putts for par on each of the final three par four holes and shot an 83 for the day, six strokes better than the day before.
- Lucas Artigliere and Julian Gonzalez were tied after the two rounds and needed a playoff to decide the individual champion.
- The two played the 9th hole evenly, so they headed back to the tee to play it a second time. Artigliere missed the fairway, but laid up nicely on his approach for a very makeable putt. Gonzalez was on the fringe of the green and couldn't sink his third shot. Artigliere drained his birdie putt to capture the individual title. Goucher won the team championship by 15 strokes over the Rangers.
