Men's golf in seventh after day one of Landmark Championships

HARRISBURG, Pa. -- At the conclusion of day one of the Landmark Conference Men's Golf Championships at Dauphin Highlands Golf Course, the Elizabethtown College men's golf team sits in seventh place. Evan Kreiser had the best round of the five members of the Blue Jays competing.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- After a +6 on the front nine, Kreiser was one of four players for Elizabethtown to shoot better on the back nine. He birdied the par-four 10th hole and stayed at -1 on the back half through the next four holes. Overall, Kreiser shot an 80 and was at +8 coming into the clubhouse after round one. The score tied him for 13th going into Saturday's final round.
- Garrett Leib was also at a +6 over his first nine holes Friday afternoon. He shot par on the 10th, 13th, 14th, and 16th and finished +5 on the back nine for a final first round score of 83 (+11). Leib sits in a tie for 25th.
- Brady McLamb shot an 87, his best round in a tournament for E-town. McLamb was one of 13 players to birdie the par five, 507-yard 5th hole on the course. He was the only Blue Jay golfer to do so and had one of Elizabethtown's two birdies in the opening round of play.
- Michael Zabrecky finished one spot behind his teammate, McLamb. Zabrecky sank putts for par in three of his final eight holes and improved by five strokes from the front nine to the back.
- Caleb Clements had the best improvement from the front to the back nine for Elizabethtown. He finished his final nine holes at a +7 and shot a five on the par five 16th and a three on the par three 17th.
- Goucher leads the Landmark Championship by one stroke over Moravian. Catholic, Scranton, and Drew are all within two shots for third place.
- Moravian's Nick Kuhn and Goucher's Julian Gonzalez each shot even par 72 in the first round and are tied for first.

UP NEXT
All eight teams will take part in the second and final round of the championship beginning with tomorrow's first tee time at 10:32 a.m.
