PERRY, N.Y. -- For the third time in program history, the Elizabethtown College men's lacrosse team had two members of its team selected as USILA Division III All Americans.
Jeremy Klipple and
Tom Mahoney were both named USILA Warrior DIII All America Honorable Mentions by the organization in an announcement Thursday morning. It is the second straight honor for Klipple.
Klipple turned in another outstanding season leading the defensive unit for the Blue Jays. Voted the Landmark Defensive Player of the Year, his second straight major award in the conference, Klipple led the league in caused turnovers with 33 and was the only one to generate at least 30 during the 2019 season. He also grabbed 55 ground balls, tied for the eighth-most in the Landmark. Early in the season, Klipple became the program's all-time leader in caused turnovers and ended his career with 130.
Mahoney had a career year in the cage for E-town. In 18 starts, the junior won a career-best 11 games, tied for the most in the Landmark with fellow DIII All America Honorable Mention Dylan Abplanalp of Susquehanna. Mahoney also had a career-high 198 saves, 34 ground balls, and five caused turnovers. The Hillsborough, N.J. native is now the school's all-time leader in career saves with 471. Mahoney's 9.19 goals against average was also best in the Landmark Conference. He gave up only nine goals between two conference tournament games to help the Jays to their third consecutive Landmark championship.

Jon Knapp will play in the USILA Senior All-Star Game sponsored by Warrior on Friday, May 24 at 5 p.m. Klipple and Knapp will play under coach Jason Childs (St. Mary's (Md.)) for the South squad, which will be held at the US Lacrosse Headquarters in Sparks, Md. Admission to the game is free of charge.
