TOWSON, Md. -- Kailey Caroland,
Meghan Chemidlin, and
Lenea Riehl combined to go 31-10 in singles play for the Elizabethtown College women's tennis team. All three players were named All-Landmark Second Team Singles in an announcement from the conference office on Thursday. Additionally, the pairing of Caroland and Riehl earned All-Landmark First Team Doubles.
Caroland was one of two players to record double-digit wins in singles action for Elizabethtown. She was 11-2 overall, all played at the No. 2 designation for the Blue Jays. She won her first three matches dating back to September in her first year a part of the program at E-town. Caroland went on a seven-match win streak from March 27 through April 13. She was 5-2 in one-on-one against Landmark opponents.
Chemidlin posted the team's best singles record at 13-1 for the season and a perfect 7-0 in the conference. She started the season 9-0 before falling in three sets to Southern Virginia in non-conference action on April 11. Chemidlin defeated Tatiana Klacko of Scranton twice in the span of two and a half weeks at No. 3. The senior scored Elizabethtown's lone point of the semifinal loss to the Royals.
Chemidlin also hit a milestone in the final regular season match. The Stewartsville, N.J. native recorded her 100th career victory in the Blue Jays' 6-3 win over York (Pa.) on Monday, April 29.
Riehl took on the opposition's number one singles player in all 14 matches for the Jays and finished .500 for the season (7-7). The junior, a First Team performer in 2018, was named all-conference for the second season in a row.
Riehl and Caroland formed a formidable duo at No. 1 doubles for E-town, going 10-3 together for the season and 5-1 in the Landmark. Between them, they won 21 matches in doubles play during the 2018-19 season. Riehl and Caroland won a season-high seven straight matches from March 27 through April 13.
