TOWSON, Md. -- Tom Mahoney earned the win in both of the victories this past week for the Elizabethtown College men's lacrosse team. The Blue Jays defeated Frostburg State and Goucher to go 2-0 for the week to get back to .500 for the year. Mahoney was named the Landmark's Defensive Athlete of the Week for men's lacrosse.
While Frostburg State led after the first quarter of last Tuesday's non-conference matchup, the Bobcats didn't score more than twice in any of the rest of the three quarters and the Elizabethtown offense caught up and kept it up in a 14-10 win for the Jays. Mahoney made eight saves in the game for E-town.
The junior was only needed for three quarters in Saturday's blowout win at Goucher. As the offense supplied him with plenty of goal support, Mahoney made six saves in 45 minutes to limit the Gophers. The win was his fifth of the season.
Mahoney ranks top five in the conference in goals against average and save percentage.
The Blue Jays are at Franklin & Marshall on Friday, April 5, at 7 p.m.
