CARLISLE, Pa. -- The Elizabethtown College men's lacrosse team dealt with its first ranked opponent of the season at #9 Dickinson on Wednesday night in non-conference action. The Red Devils had an 11-0 lead after the first and went on to defeat the Blue Jays, 20-3.
Scott Nizolak,
Benjamin O'Connor, and
Mike Scrafano each scored for E-town.
Dickinson (3-0), who slid inside the top 10 this week in the updated Division III rankings, got on top early against Elizabethtown (1-2). The Red Devils secured a 5-0 lead by the 8:07 mark of the first quarter and added six more by the end as they were able to outshoot E-town 17-2 in the opening period of play.
Nizolak got the Blue Jays on the board with 5:08 left in the second quarter with an unassisted tally, his second of the season. EC trailed 13-1 at the half.
O'Connor recorded the first goal of his career for Elizabethtown in the third quarter.
Alex Klipple provided the assist on the freshman's first of the season. Scrafano made it back-to-back goals for the Jays with his third of the season coming in the final two minutes of the third. Both teams scored twice in the quarter.
Dickinson held E-town without a fourth-quarter goal and won 20-3.
The Blue Jays will host Messiah on Saturday, March 2, for their home opener at Wolf Field. Game time is 1 p.m.
