Gerstenbacher wins individual title, Blue Jays claim sixth straight Landmark championship

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- For the sixth season in a row, the Elizabethtown College men's cross country team has won the Landmark Conference Championship. Samuel Gerstenbacher was the race winner yet again as four of the first five finishers were Blue Jays. E-town had six all-conference performers altogether and ended with a meet-low 24 points.

A two-time Landmark Performer of the Year coming into the day, Gerstenbacher made it a third consecutive major award honor on Saturday. The senior crossed 20 seconds ahead of the runner up, Moravian's Greg Jaindl. Gerstenbacher's winning time was 26:03.12.

Following Jaindl were three clad in E-town uniforms. Liam Coverdale was third in 26:39.27, Christopher Myers took fourth in 26:42.48, and Will Schoener was fifth at 26:47.12. All three earned a spot on the First Team, along with Gerstenbacher.

Colm Smith was the final scoring member for Elizabethtown, taking 11th overall in 27:10.38. Adam Wolfe was right behind him in 12th at 27:11.92. Smith and Wolfe both earned All-Landmark Second Team honors.

The Blue Jays won the Landmark Conference with 24 points, followed by Moravian with 58. Juniata placed third with 86 points.

Head coach Brian Falk was named the Landmark's Coach of the Year while Gerstenbacher earned Performer of the Year accolades for a third consecutive year.
