Men's cross country takes fourth with four all-region performers

BETHLEHEM, Pa. -- Samuel Gerstenbacher had the best finish for the Elizabethtown College men's cross country program since 2002 as the Blue Jays finished fourth at the NCAA Division III Mideast Regional on Saturday at Lehigh University. Gerstenbacher was third overall and was one of four all-region honorees for E-town.

Gerstenbacher's dominance on the cross country courses continued Saturday as he ran his way to third overall in 24:44.3. It was the senior's third consecutive All-Mideast Region performance.

Christopher Myers, Will Schoener, and Liam Coverdale each earned their first regional accolade on Saturday. Myers ran 25:25.3 and was 16th, Schoener finished 24th at 25:32.2, and Coverdale was 30th in 25:38.9 as the three upperclassmen were all within 13 seconds of one another.

Colm Smith was 56th for the Blue Jays in 26:14.5.

Elizabethtown finished fourth of 51 teams with 129 points. The four all-region honorees were the most for the program since 2015.
