TOWSON, Md. – For the second time this season freshman
Kelvin Del Cid was named Landmark Conference Defensive Athlete of the Week after helping Elizabethtown to a 2-0 week, announced by the organization Monday afternoon.
Del Cid finished the week not allowing a goal in victories against Penn State Berks (3-0) and Juniata (3-0). The shutout against the Eagles was his first conference shutout of his career and the fourth overall.
The Blue Jays' are now 2-0 in league play for the first time since 2015 thanks in large part to Del Cid and the defensive unite, allowing only one goal in two games and tallying a 0.50 goals against average.
On top of the clean week in goal, Del Cid registered his second assist of the season on the second goal in Elizabethtown's win against Juniata.
He is second in the Landmark in saves (52), fourth in save percentage (.813) and fifth goals against average (1.10)
The men's soccer team is back in action on Saturday, Oct. 12 at Drew. Opening kickoff is set for 1 p.m.
