BETHLEHEM, Pa. -- In a field full of Division I, Division II, and Division III talent,
Samuel Gerstenbacher stood out as one of the top performers Saturday at the Paul Short Invitational at Lehigh University. Gerstenbacher put forth another top-ten effort for the Elizabethtown College men's cross country team, taking sixth in the College Brown 8k race. As a team, the Blue Jays placed 22nd out of 44 teams.
Gerstenbacher was the top-finishing Division III athlete in the race as he took sixth overall in 24:54.1 out of 323 runners. He was followed by senior
Liam Coverdale, who finished 57th in 25:25.8.
Christopher Myers was the third runner for Elizabethtown to finish Saturday. He was 84th as the Jays were able to put three in the top 100. Myers ran 25:37.0.
Colm Smith and
Will Schoener completed the scoring for the Blue Jays. Smith finished in 26:25.1 and Schoener crossed in 26:28.4.
The men's cross country team will have two weeks off before competing in the Inter-Regional Border Battle hosted by Rowan University on Saturday, October 19.
