ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. – The Elizabethtown women's volleyball team celebrated senior
Elle Shatto with straight-set victories over Hood and Christendom in the Blue Jays' final home matches of the season Saturday afternoon.
With the two wins, Elizabethtown improves to 23-9 overall.
Shatto combined to hit .536 with 17 kills, 19 digs, five aces and five total blocks. She is now four kills away from tying Jill Bowser for seventh all-time in program history (1,064). Freshman
Bryanna Miller finished the afternoon with 15 kills, while freshman
Sarah Hanks (29) and sophomore
Rileigh Hudock (22) combined for 51 assists. Junior
Aiyana Tietze-Di Toro matched Shatto for a team-high 19 digs over the two matches.
ELIZABETHTOWN 3, HOOD 0 (25-13, 25-18, 25-16) -- PHOTO GALLERY
- SET ONE: Holding a one point lead (5-4) early in the opening set, Elizabethtown went on a 8-0 run, capped off by a kill from Miller, to take a 13-4 lead. After the Blue Jays pushed its lead to 23-9, the Blazer attempted to rally, scoring four straight points to make the score 23-13. Elizabethtown, however, slammed the door as freshman Courtney Westman ended the set with an ace, giving the Blue Jays the 1-0 lead.
- SET TWO: Hood grabbed the momentum at the start of the second, running out to a 9-5 lead after a block by freshman Carrington Ray and sophomore Shannon Saghy. After a timeout, the Blue Jays responded, rattling off six consecutive points for the 11-9 lead. Hood moved back ahead by three (15-12) once again before Elizabethtown moved to the front for the final time, closing out the second set with a 13-3 run for the 25-18 win.
- SET THREE: Elizabethtown left little doubt in the final set, zipping out to an 8-2 lead. The Blazer managed to close with three midway through the third (15-12), scoring three straight points and forcing a Blue Jay timeout. Elizabethtown came roaring out of the timeout, scoring five straight points on their way to the straight set victory, 25-16.

- SET ONE: The Blue Jays took the momentum from the jump in the first set, running out to an 11-6 lead after Hanks found Miller for the kill. Elizabethtown continued to roll, hitting .364 in the opening frame on its way to the 25-14 win.
- SET TWO: Holding only a two point advantage (8-6), the Blue Jays used a 9-0 rally to push its lead to 11 (17-6). Tietze-Di Toro paced Elizabethtown over this stretch, registering four aces. After two points by the Crusaders, the Blue Jays wrapped up the second set with eight straight points and the 2-0 lead.
- SET THREE: After an ace by Hanks, Elizabethtown held a seven point advantage (13-6) at the start of the third. The Blue Jays did not slow down, scoring its second straight 3-0 victory, with the 25-11 win.
