Cameron Sheva registered his first career hat trick as Elizabethtown topped Penn State Berks, 3-0, in non-conference action Wednesday night.
With the win, the Blue Jays improve to 6-3-1 while the Nittany Lions fall to 2-6-2.
Sheva has now scored six goals and tallied 13 points in his last six games. Freshman
Tate Mohney registered a career-high two assists while senior
Brendan Burke recorded his first assist of the season.
Elizabethtown wasted little time getting on the board, as Burke sent a cross into Sheva in the first minute of the game. Sheva then fired it into the left corner for his first goal of the night and the 1-0 lead just 38 second into the game.
Less than a minute later Mohney served a cross into the box. Sheva collected the pass and once again slotted it into the left corner for his second of the night and the 2-0 advantage with 1:13 showing on the clock.
Sheva completed the hat trick in the 20th minute, as Mohney once again found him with a cross. Just like the first two, Sheva knocked it into the left corner for the Blue Jays' final goal of the night, giving Elizabethtown the 3-0 win.
Freshman
Kelvin Del Cid (6-3-1) started in goal for Elizabethtown, facing one shot. Sophomore
Nick Pilny saw his first action as a Blue Jay, playing the entire second and making two saves.
Junior Jose Aparicio (1-5-2) started in goal for Penn State Berks, allowing all three goals and making one save. Sophomore Carter Lam played the final 67 minutes, registering four saves on 11 shots faced.
Elizabethtown remains on the road for its second Landmark Conference of the season against Juniata on Saturday, Oct. 5. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m.
