Women's cross country takes part in Inter-Regional Border Battle

LOGAN TOWNSHIP, N.J. -- The Elizabethtown College women's cross country team was back in action on Saturday at the Inter-Regional Border Battle hosted by Rowan University. Melissa Fitzgibbon was the team's top performer in the 6,000-meter race.

Fitzgibbon paced the Blue Jays in the first race of the day. The sophomore was 47th and finished in 22:55.20. Kaitlin Donahue came in next, in 60th, at 23:08.20. Erin Doherty was right behind her in 61st and two seconds off her pace. The senior ran 23:10.52, just shy of her personal best from two weeks ago at the Paul Short Invite.

Brooklyne Wiley was the fourth runner to finish for Elizabethtown. She crossed in 85th at 23:42.14. Courtney Gelb was the final scoring members of the Jays' team and ran a new 6k personal best of 24:04.49.

Unofficially, E-town finished 12th out of 27 teams with 340 points. 223 runners competed in the women's 6,000-meter race.

The women's cross country team will now prepare to defend their Landmark Conference title coming up on Saturday, November 2. The championship event is being hosted this year by The Catholic University of America.
