MADISON, N.J. – Senior
Lydia Lawson recorded her second consecutive hat trick to lead Elizabethtown to a 3-1 victory over Drew in Landmark Conference action Saturday afternoon.
With the win, the Blue Jays improve to 7-3-1 overall and 2-1-0 in conference play while the Rangers fall to 5-7-0 and 1-2-1 in the Landmark.
Lawson's three tallies givers her 15 goals and 33 points on the season. Entering the weekend she was tied for 26th in goals and tied for 31st in points in Division III. It is Lawson's fourth multi-goal game of the season and she has registered a point in every game this season but one. Sophomore
Leigh Ungerleider assisted on Lawson's first two goals.
Elizabethtown took a 1-0 lead in the first half as Ungerleider went streaking down the left side into the Drew penalty box. After briefly losing the ball to a Rangers' defender, Ungerleider regained possession and fired a cross into the center of the box. Lawson met the service with her head and deposited in the right corner for the opening goal.
Drew managed to find the equalizer towards the end of the first half, taking advantage of a penalty kick to make the halftime score 1-1.
The Blue Jays moved back in front in the 68
th minute as the Ungerleider-Lawson duo struck again, giving Lawson her fifth game winning goal of the season.
Lawson put the game out of reach in the final minute, finishing off her second-straight road hat trick, and giving Elizabethtown the 3-1 victory.
Freshman
Trinity Soto (7-3-1) finished the game with four saves on 12 shots.
Freshman Angela Accetturo (3-4-0) made three saves on seven shots, allowing all three goals.
Elizabethtown returns home to take on Moravian on Wednesday, Oct. 16. The Landmark contest will kick off at 7 p.m.
