COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. -- The Elizabethtown College wrestling team earned its first dual win of the season, Saturday, with a 31-12 triumph against Rhode Island College at the North/South Duals, hosted by Ursinus College.

URSINUS 24, ELIZABETHTOWN 23
Coming into Saturday, Elizabethtown and Ursinus had only squared off twice in the previous decade. Those meetings didn't end well for the Jays as they were outscored a combined 85-10.
It was a much different story this time around, though the host Bears prevailed in the end, 24-23, on William McGinley's 3-2 heavyweight decision over
Max Rhoden.
D3wrestle honorable mention Collin Wickramaratna opened the match with a 4-2 decision over
Josh McLaughlin, but Elizabethtown took over from there.
Colton Rex won by tech fall (16-0) at 133,
Luke Moynihan captured his first career victory, 10-5 over Kyle Seibert at 141,
Nick Gonzalez won by injury default at 149 and
Kyle Bythell pinned Edward Howlette (3:27) at 157 to put the Blue Jays up 20-3.
Ursinus stormed back with consecutive pins from Zachary Goranson (165), Gary Nagle (174) and Anthony Cutrufello (184) to go in front 21-20, before junior transfer
Elijah Flasher earned his first victory as a Blue Jay with a 4-0 shutout of Charlie Wildermuth at 197 to reclaim the lead for the visitors.
An early takedown lifted McGinley to the lead in the decisive match. Rhoden escaped from the bottom to draw within 3-2 at the start of the third, but could not come up with the tying point as the Bears completed the comeback.

PENN COLLEGE 34, ELIZABETHTOWN 21
Elizabethtown missed an opportunity to end Saturday on a high note after squandering an 18-point lead in a 34-21 loss to Penn College.
The Blue Jays were given 12 points from the get-go as
Josh McLaughlin (125) and
Colton Rex (133) received forfeit victories. Freshman
Nick Gonzalez followed with his second career pin, sticking Gavin Link in 5:10 of their 141-pound bout.
Penn College quickly erased its goose egg, winning five straight weights, including four by pin, to take control of the match.
Colin Browne's pin of
Dayne Ross at 184 gave the Wildcats a 28-18 lead and though
Elijah Flasher was able to temporarily slow PCT's momentum with a 6-1 decision at 197, it wasn't enough to get the Blue Jays back into the match.
