Lydia Lawson and
Shannon Conlon scored first half goals as Elizabethtown built a 2-0 lead on the road at Stevenson, Saturday. The Mustangs rallied, getting the tying goal in the 58th minute and the result was a 2-2 draw after 110 minutes of play.
The Blue Jays were humming early, recording the game's first six shots --all in the opening 13 minutes.
Madison Burnham had the first quality chance at 9:52, but Stevenson goalkeeper Keegan Caffrey made the save. At 12:02, Conlon, a Maryland native, rang a shot off the crossbar.
Persistence paid off for the visitors when Lawson tucked a shot inside the far right post for her team-leading fourth goal of the season and a 1-0 E-town lead at 13:10.
Following a few saves from sophomore
Christine Fox, Conlon finished off the rebound of a Lawson attempt to increase E-town's lead to 2-0 in the 33rd minute. Conlon's goal was her second of the campaign.
Less than four minutes later, Stevenson got on the board for the first time when Erin Horsey scored off a corner kick. Kierra McGee and Alex Hamel assisted on the goal, which made it a 2-1 game at half.
Elizabethtown continued to apply pressure early in the second half, but this time it was Caffrey making saves to keep thet Mustangs (0-4-2) within a goal.
The Stevenson keeper stopped Marisa Lapinsky at 55:17 and
Janelle Barna at 56:29, before teammate Alyssa Rasmussen tied the game in the 58th minute.
Both teams attempted four shots in the overtime periods and each came close to scoring the game-winner. In the 106th minute, the Jays were credited with a team save on Bridget Heist's shot.
With just over a minute remaining,
Alli Lasky had a shot inside the box stopped by Caffrey. So too did Burnham with 41 seconds to play.
The Mustang keeper was a difference maker with nine saves in total. Fox had four for the Blue and Gray.
Elizabethtown edged Stevenson in shots, 22-21, and corners, 8-7. The Blue Jays also had 11 shots on goal to the Mustangs' seven.
The Blue Jays will return home to Ira R. Herr Field on Wednesday evening at 5:30 to face nationally-ranked Messiah.
