Gerstenbacher, Alansky pace men's XC in first meet

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. -- The Elizabethtown College men's cross country team faced off with former runners of the program on Saturday at the Blue Jay Alumni Challenge. Samuel Gerstenbacher and Tyler Alansky paced the Blue Jays to a 15-50 win over the alumni. The Blue Jays had all five scorers in the top five for the perfect meet score of 15.

Gerstenbacher and Alansky, a junior and a senior for Elizabethtown in 2018, each fresh off All-Mideast Region honors in 2017, both broke the 17-minute mark in Saturday's race. Gerstenbacher was the first to finish, in 16:34.00. Alansky came in at 16:57.00 to take second, the same as they did at last year's Landmark Conference Championships.

Andrew Lesko was the top finisher for the alumni team, in 18:20.00.

Elizabethtown will compete at next Saturday's Dickinson Long/Short Invitational in Carlisle, Pa.
