ANNVILLE, Pa. -- Five Elizabethtown swimmers contributed to six event victories as the Blue Jay women held off Lebanon Valley, 137-125, Monday night.
Junior
Sara Lingo captured the 100- and 400-meter freestyle races as E-town's only multi-event winner. The Blue Jays also used wins from
Robin Hill in the 200 free,
Sarah Helt in the 50 backstroke,
Sadie Hawkins in the 100 butterfly and
Maddie Lasko in the 100 breaststroke to defeat their former Middle Atlantic Conference rivals.
Head coach
Melissa Gates took advantage of the pre-Thanksgiving meet by giving student-athletes a chance to compete in events away from their usual specialties.
Hill was the first Blue Jay to record a victory against the Dutchmen. The freshman from West Deptford, New Jersey stepped into the mid-distance 200 free for the first time this season and led an Elizabethtown 1-2-3 finish with a time of 2:21.62. Classmate
Marin Adams was second (2:25.93) and Lingo third (2:31.41).
The Blue Jays would also sweep the top three positions in the very next event, as Helt clocked in with a 37.43 to triumph in the non-traditional 50 back.
Hope Sury took runner-up honors with a 39.12 and
Beth Kimball placed third in 39.53.
Hawkins led from start-to-finish in the 100 fly, holding off LVC's D'Anna Sydow by just under a second. Hawkins' winning time was 1:14.36.
Lingo nabbed the first of her two victories in the 100 free with a 1:06.95. Hawkins was in close pursuit, finishing second at 1:07.14.
Elizabethtown teammates Lasko and
Abigail Mehring took the top two spots in the 100 breast and were separated by only two-tenths of a second. Lasko posted a 1:30.28 and Mehring a 1:30.48.
The Jays' final win of the night went to Lingo in the 400 free, as she bested Lebanon Valley's Sarah Wolf by three seconds. The junior registered a time of 4:56.99. Adams was third for E-town in 5:02.82.
The Dutchmen (1-4) won both the 200 medley and 200 free relays, along with six individual events to keep the dual close throughout. Erika Schell won all four events she competed in for LVC (200 medley relay, 50 free, 50 fly, 200 free relay) and Courtney Betsock compiled three wins (200 medley relay, 50 breast, 100 IM).
Elizabethtown will be on the road again following Thanksgiving as it travels to Bryn Mawr for a double dual on Wednesday, Nov. 28. Cabrini will also be competing in the meet, which starts at 6 p.m.
