MADISON, N.J. --
Sara Lingo was victorious in the 200-yard individual medley on Saturday, but the Elizabethtown College women's swim team fell to host Drew and Arcadia in a double dual.
Drew, a fellow Landmark Conference member, topped the Blue Jays 164-96, while former Middle Atlantic Conference rival Arcadia got the best of E-town 173-89.
Though Lingo secured Elizabethtown's (1-2, 1-1 Landmark) only event win of the afternoon, there was plenty to be encouraged about as 11 team season-best times were recorded.
Lingo, last year's Landmark 400 IM champion, edged Arcadia's Rachel Samson by five-hundredths of a second to win the 200 IM in 2:20.03. Samson was third in the 400 IM and fifth in the 200 IM at the MAC Championships last season.
E-town opened the meet with a second-place finish in the 400 medley relay as
Julia Argentati,
Kaleigh Bobeck,
Marin Adams and
Erika Cole put down a season-best 4:27.00.
Lingo's first event of the day came in the 1000 freestyle. The junior from Milford, Delaware easily set a new career-best time of 11:09.80 to take third. Teammate
Robin Hill was fourth in 11:28.84. Lingo would also go on to place third in the 200 backstroke in yet another closely contested race. She posted a time of 2:16.83 to trail only Drew teammates Katie Jefferson (2:15.82) and Stephanie Cushman (2:16.12) at the finish.
Hill put forth a third-place showing in the 100 butterfly with a season-best 1:05.23.
Elizabethtown's program season-best times came from Cole in the 100 free (58.31),
Sadie Hawkins in the 200 free (2:10.17), Lingo in the 1000 free, 200 back and 200 IM, Bobeck in the 100 breast (1:18.86), Adams in the 200 breast (2:50.90) and 200 fly (2:21.58), Hill in the 100 fly, the 400 medley relay and 200 freestyle relay (1:46.69) teams. Cole, Hawkins, Lingo and Hill comprised the 200 free relay team, which finished fourth to close out the meet.
The Blue Jays turn around to swim at Lebanon Valley on Monday evening at 6 p.m.
