Blue Jays finish 9th and 17th as a team at Inter-Regional Border Battle

LOGAN TOWNSHIP, N.J. -- The Elizabethtown College women's cross country team got a preview of what some of the field will be like at the NCAA Division III Mideast Regional and potentially further on at NCAAs after taking part in the Inter-Regional Border Battle hosted by Rowan University. The Blue Jays took ninth in Saturday's open race and were 17th in the Women's Division III Championship race.

Brooklyne Wiley led the contingent of runners for Elizabethtown in the women's 6k open race. She took over a minute off her 6k time from a week ago at DeSales and finished in 25:37.9. O'Livia McIntosh set a new PR for 6,000 meters and was the second athlete for the Blue Jays to finish Saturday's open race. McIntosh crossed in 25:43.4, breaching the 26-minute mark for the first time. Kinsey Kliment also set a new 6k PR in the race. The sophomore finished at 26:08.1.

Justine Itterly and Mary Lombardi were the final two scorers for E-town.

In the women's championship race, Colleen Kernan was Elizabethtown's top performer for the fourth consecutive meet. The senior ran 22:32.4, her fastest 6k race of her career as she knocked off 21 seconds and placed 37th overall in the field of 345. Olivia Gerstenbacher also set a new 6,000-meter personal best as she continued to drop her time at the distance. Gerstenbacher ran 23:12.6 in the race. Melissa Fitzgibbon finished in 23:25.9, Kaitlin Donahue ran 23:47 and Emma Ager crossed in 24:36.3. It was the first 6k races of the season for Donahue and Ager.

Johns Hopkins finished first in both the open and championship standings.
