LOGAN TOWNSHIP, N.J. -- The Elizabethtown College men's cross country team had runners competing in both races hosted by Rowan University at the Inter-Regional Border Battle on Saturday. The Blue Jays were 12th in the open race while taking 15th in the championship race.
Samuel Gerstenbacher was E-town's top finisher between the two races.
In the open race,
Blake Samsel and
Darren Labenberg were the top two runners for Elizabethtown, finishing inside the top 100.
Zachary Kardos,
JJ Teal and
Colin Elliott were the remaining three that accounted for the Blue Jays' point total in the open race. Teal ran an 8k personal best for the Jays.
E-town faced a loaded field full of runners expected to be seen again at the NCAA Division III Mideast Regional Championships next month. Amongst the field, Gerstenbacher finished 11th overall out of 394 and dropped 30 seconds off his 8k time down to 25:20.4.
Tyler Alansky was next in at 26:09.0.
Colm Smith followed at 26:51.8.
Liam Coverdale and
Christopher Myers were the final two point scorers for Elizabethtown. Both juniors ran new 8k personal bests and cracked the 27:00 mark for the first time in their careers.
Elizabethtown's next meet is Friday, October 19, at the LVC Last Chance Run Fast Invitational scheduled for 4:30 p.m.
