Lingo leads Blue Jays in loss to Albright

READING, Pa. -- Sophomore Sara Lingo captured the 1650-yard freestyle and 200-yard backstroke, Saturday, as the Elizabethtown College women's swim team fell to Albright 144-104.

The Blue Jays competed in the 1650 free for the first time this season and Lingo cruised to victory in 20:04.38, defeating Albright's Faith Guzzo by almost 26 seconds.

The Milford, Del., native was equally impressive in the 200 back, where she topped five other competitors --the closest by seven seconds-- to win in 2:26.14. Freshman teammate Julia Argentati made her season debut in the event and took runner-up honors in 2:33.15, the team's second fastest time this season.

Elizabethtown's record dropped to 4-6 this season, while the Lions improved to 4-3.

Including Argentati's second-place finish in the 200 back, the Jays also got runner-up finishes from Erika Cole, Dru Schneider, Sadie Hawkins and Cheryl Errichetti in the 200 medley relay (2:06.02), Schneider in the 100 breaststroke (1:17.15), Hawkins in the 200 butterfly (2:35.68) and Caroline Hill in the 200 IM (2:38.23).

Juli Hyatt won four times for Albright by sweeping the 100 and 200 breast and contributing to the Lions' victorious 200 medley and 800 free relay teams. Ashlyn Chermol claimed the 50 free, 100 fly and was also part of the 800 free relay for the hosts, and Alex Trego won a pair of individual events (500 free and 200 IM).

The Blue Jays swim their final road meet of the regular season next Saturday at McDaniel.
