Dolaway, Marshall and Spangler winners for men's swimming at Albright

READING, Pa. -- The Elizabethtown College men's swim team got victories from Austin Dolaway (200-yard freestyle), Casey Marshall (100 backstroke) and Ben Spangler (200 breaststroke) in a 144-112 loss at Albright on Saturday.

Dolaway rallied with a final 50-yard split of 28.59 that was nearly two seconds faster than any of his opponents to claim the 200 free over teammate Tommy Kuhn in 1:55.26. Kuhn registered a career-best 1:57.76 in just his second appearance in the event, and first since Nov. 2016.

The Blue Jays (5-4) made it two wins in a row against the defending Middle Atlantic Conference champions when Marshall captured the 100 back in 59.91. E-town held the top three spots in the event with Nick Petrella second (1:00.71) and Sam Hirshberg third (1:02.42).

Albright (5-2) won the next five events before Ben Spangler halted the Lions' streak with his second straight win in the 200 breast (2:24.24). The junior from York was also victorious in an exhibition meet at Juniata back on Dec. 2.

Elizabethtown's 200 medley relay team of Alex Pecher, Spangler, Marshall and Alec Schneider were runners-up in a tight race (1:42.04) and Marshall was second in the 100 fly (53.82).

Pecher swam season-best times in the 100 free (50.87) and 50 free (22.94), which were the Blue Jays' second and third fastest marks in those events this season. Marshall's 1:54.92 in the 200 free ranks second on the team and David Foery went 19:33.75 in the 1650 free --a career-best and E-town's fastest time in the event since the 2015 Landmark Championships.

All nine of Albright's individual victories on Saturday came from different swimmers. Harry Hunsberger was a three-time winner for the Lions, helping the 200 medley and 800 free relays to victory along with capturing the 100 free.

Elizabethtown travels to McDaniel next Saturday for its final road meet of the season.
