Women's swimming falls to Royals

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. -- Scranton swept all 14 events, Saturday, en route to a 203.5-47.5 victory over the Elizabethtown College women's swim team.

The loaded Royals came in as defending Landmark runners-up and showed that they should once again be in the thick of the hunt at this year's championships.

Dru Schneider tied for second with Scranton's Erica Westlake in the 100-yard breaststroke, as both swimmers registered times of 1:18.06. Elizabethtown (4-5, 2-3 Landmark) also got a second-place finish from Megan Anderson in the 500 freestyle (6:10.25) in its first meet of 2018.

Cheryl Errichetti missed a season-best in the 50 free by just .03, laying down a 27.73, while Erika Cole was third in the 100 free in 1:00.91.

The Blue Jays' 200 free relay team of Errichetti, Sadie Hawkins, Cole and Maddie Lasko cut nearly nine-tenths off the team's former fast time with a 1:50.75 effort to take third, Saturday.

With the victory, the Royals remained unbeaten in dual meets this season, now a perfect 8-0 along with 4-0 against Landmark schools.

Elizabethtown returns to the pool next Saturday at Albright. The meet is scheduled for 1 p.m.
