Trio shoots 89 for men's golf at LVC Fall Invitational

LEBANON, Pa. -- Craig Eidle, Santiago Garcia and Felix Goettfert all carded rounds of 89 as the Elizabethtown men's golf team took part in Monday afternoon's LVC Dutchmen Fall Invitational.

Eidle's score was one stroke off his season best, while Garcia played his first round of the season and Goettfert shot his second straight round in the 80s.

Elizabethtown finished 15th of 17 competing teams, its scoring four combining for a 73-over par 361 on Lebanon Country Club's par 72, 6,562-yard course.

Rick Stone posted a round of 94 and sophomore Josh Diker shot 97 for the Blue and Gray.

Lebanon Valley 'Blue' won its home tournament by six strokes over Penn State Berks. The Dutchmen, led by individual medalist David Herbst's 2-under 70, shot 301 (+13) to Berks' 307 (+19). Herbst also won last week's Elizabethtown Invitational. The Nittany Lions' Andrew Cornish tied Herbst atop the leaderboard, but Herbst was one stroke better (3-4) on the second-hardest playing hole, No. 2, to take home medalist honors.

Gettysburg (308, +20), Stevenson 'Green' (313, +25) and Marywood (315, +27) rounded out the top five finishing teams.

The Blue Jays will play twice more this week, beginning with Thursday's Moravian Fall Invitational at Southmoore Golf Course in Bath. They'll then travel up to Moosic and the Glenmaura National Golf Club for Saturday's Scranton-hosted Landmark Conference Fall Invitational.
