HARRISBURG, Pa. -- Kyle Hakun saved one of his best rounds for last, posting the fifth best score, a 3-over par 75, in Monday's final round of the Messiah Falcon Spring Classic at Colonial Golf & Tennis Club as the Blue Jays ended their season with a seventh-place showing.

Hakun's round of 75 was his third such of the season and matched the second lowest round of his career, bettered only by a 74 this past October at the Muhlenberg Fall Invitational. The Springfield, Pennsylvania, native made a leap up the leaderboard to tie for 12th, Monday, and in doing so, secured his position among the best 15 season averages in program history with a 78.70 across 10 rounds in 2016-17.

Hakun was outstanding on par 3's with birdies on both front nine opportunities at No. 5 and No. 7. He went on to par No. 12 and No. 17 on the back nine and ended the round with a third birdie --on No. 14, a par 5 playing at 528 yards-- and 11 pars.

Junior Craig Eidle and senior Jeff Light also had good days for the Blue and Gray, both shooting under their season averages.

Eidle registered a birdie on No. 14 and was just 4-over on the front nine before running into some trouble coming in. He still managed an 84, which tied a career low.

Light, a late addition to the team for the spring semester after a standout career with Elizabethtown's men's soccer team, played in five rounds during the second half of the Jays' season and the two-day Messiah Falcon Spring Classic displayed the hard work he's put in to contribute to the team in short order.

Light worked his way into the 80s for the first time this season in Sunday's opening round at Blue Ridge Country Club. He came back Monday to shoot a career-best 85 on the strength of seven pars and a birdie on No. 14.

Chuck Johnston, also playing in the final round of his Blue Jay career, shot an 87 and recorded a birdie on No. 15, a 390-yard par 4. Freshman Garrett Leib checked in with an 88.

Elizabethtown dropped a spot in the team standings to an Alvernia team that improved by 28 strokes from the first to second round. The Blue Jays shot matching scores of 331 in both rounds to finish with an 86-over 662.

Franklin & Marshall blew away the field at Colonial with a 295 that was 14 strokes better than Lebanon Valley. The big day allowed the Diplomats to erase a four-stroke deficit and win the tournament by 10 shots (607) over LVC (617). Messiah and Stevenson shared third.

Messiah's Jordan Kirsch came up with an even round of 72 to earn medalist honors by one stroke over Stevenson's Andrew Wally, who entered the day with the lead after shooting a 2-under par at Blue Ridge, Sunday.
